Another heart-stopping match! Another unexpected score! Argentina has officially advanced to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over England in Atlanta, USA. Our Selección has done it once again! And we are so happy and so thankful! I believe this dream team is a metaphor for our identity as a nation. Their toughness, their strength, their resilience is our very own, as a society that has put up with decades of hardships of all sorts. We always manage to pull through, somehow, in spite of our lousy administrations. There seems to be something in our genetics (“¿el ADN Argento?”) that enables us to endure against all odds. Maybe our native wit and cunning (“viveza criolla”) is our (and these players’) survival mechanism, our strategy to turn the game around in the dying moments. Let’s not count our chickens before they hatch, though. The World Cup journey isn’t over yet. Argentina will face Spain tomorrow, July 19, at New York New Jersey Stadium. Break a leg muchachos (but not literally, please!)
