When an artist dies, we are left much poorer. I last saw Antono Grimau on stage playing Hamlet’s evil uncle, Claudius, at the Teatro Coliseo Podestá in La Plata. An unforgettable performance. He was such a versatile actor! And so handsome! Theatre, film, television, over six decades of  professional acting. His role as ‘Sandro’ in the 2018 miniseries is a masterpiece. And he was so loved and admired by his colleagues, always smiling and good-tempered, in spite of some very hard misfortunes he went through since his early childhood. Shakespeare once wrote: “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their  entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts…” Antonio Grimau’s exit is a great loss for all of us theatre lovers. When an actor or actress passes away, in Spanish we say: “Se fue de gira.” Have an enjoyable and successful tour, Antonio! Au revoir!
