Every summer in Argentina, as in a sinister loop, we witness almost the same tragic pieces of news. Forest wildfires ravaging through some provinces; UTV accidents in ‘La Frontera,’ Pinamar… We don’t seem to learn but keep making the same mistakes again and again instead. Believe it or not, they say Patagonia’s wildfires began as a result of a deliberate human act, as most forest fires do. What a hideous crime! We are cutting the branch on which we are sitting, aren’t we?  Carelessly and irresponsibly destroying our own planet. On the other hand, eight-year-old Bastian was riding on the back of an adult driving a UTV when it collided head-on with a pick-up truck in Pinamar. He’s been operated five times so far. Nevertheless, after this accident, people still race in La Frontera’s sand dunes, as if nothing had happened. No control whatsoever. No man’s land. How many more Bastians will there be before summer is over? Let’s not blame fate, guys. It’s entirely our fault.
