Most Martín Fierro Award ceremonies are a glamorous vanity fair where the ego of the nominees is
undisguisable and plain to see. That’s why I was gladly surprised when the “Martín Fierro de Oro” was awarded last Sunday to the CONICET national scientific and technical research council for their live broadcast series Fondo del Mar. So well deserved! Such a justified recognition! Those scientists have discovered 40 new species and have captured images and videos of awesome coral fields, which were witnessed by over four million people, thus making science accessible to the general
public. Hats off to CONICET, the Schmidt Ocean Institute and to the wise choice by APTRA Members.
