No Facebook, no Instagram, no Whatsapp! For some hours last Wednesday, we all felt like Tom Hanks in “Cast Away”, cut off from the world, at a loss, unable to communicate, to make contact. The “most severe global outage ever”, said the media. The fact is that we rely (and depend) so much (too much) on these platforms nowadays, that we were all helpless, puzzled, dismayed, frustrated, almost gasping for breath. We suffered from an abstinence syndrome for a while, and all of a sudden felt forced to make eye contact with other people and actually talk to them face to face. We discovered flesh and blood beings all around us, once temporarily deprived of the virtual world. Not bad. Good for a change. Sigh…
