Judges are thought to be quite stern, severe, grave, somewhat unfriendly. There are exceptions, though. Chubut female Judge Mariel Suárez seems to be one of them. She was one of the three magistrates in the trial which sentenced Cristian Bustos to life imprisonment for killing a policeman. She had already shown some pity when she openly opposed to that drastic sentence. Maybe to make up for it and show some sympathy, she paid a visit to the inmate and kissed him fondly, while sharing a “mate” with the criminal, a habit most people have abandoned since the pandemic started. Mariel Suárez said she had no sentimental relationship with the prisoner, only “academic interest”, since she’s planning to write a book about his life story. Are we supposed to believe her? Looks like a good script for a summer soap opera. Instead of “The Beauty and the Beast”, “The Judge and the cop killer». There’s no account for tastes, is there? It takes all sorts to make a world.
