Voting is not only a civil right. It’s also a duty. In my case, a moral one, since at my age it’s no longer mandatory. Anyway, I’ve always felt proud to vote, because it’s one of the few occasions when the average citizen, the man in the street, ordinary people, can play a leading role. Electoral apathy worries me. Those who decide not to vote miss out on a valuable chance, I think. There’s no excuse for not doing so. It’s useless to complain about the state of things if we don’t do our bit responsibly. We can vote with our head, our heart, our pockets or our guts, in spite of our disillusionment with parties and politicians. It’s a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be wasted. So let’s vote tomorrow, shall we? Let’s be part of the game.
