Luis Caputo admitted in a recent interview he has never bought clothes in Argentina since he can afford travelling and buying them abroad at a much lower price. Wow! If that isn’t flaunting his wealth, what is? Not a politically correct comment, particularly coming from the economy minister of this impoverished country, where most of us can hardly make ends meet, let alone travel abroad to update our wardrobe. Our leaders lack empathy in their discourse and in their actions. They sound offensive and don’t seem to care. They don’t take into account the effects of their sayings on the average citizen, the man in the street, us. They live in an ivory tower, disconnected from our daily realities. They inhabit la-la-land and buy designer clothes abroad, while we shop at La Salada or in Flores. It’s what it is…
