All the best!

Honestly, I can’t wait. Whoever wins tomorrow, I do hope our representatives show tolerance and common sense, and choose to join efforts, regardless their parties and ideologies.  We haven’t touched bottom yet, but are pretty close. The time has come for our politicians to work together, putting aside their differences. We, Seguir leyendo

Gane quien gane…

Debate or boring stand-up?

In my opinion, last Sunday’s Argentine presidential campaign`s first debate was a bore. For several reasons. On the one hand, it wasn’t a “debate” in the strict sense of the word. No interaction whatsoever. The speakers didn’t even look at one another. On the other hand, they sounded as if Seguir leyendo

Fed up by now…

Whatever the result of the October presidential elections is, whoever  wins, I do hope everything’s over as soon as possible, so that we can leave this sort of limbo, this endless period of waiting, this nowhere land we’re all living in, with candidates promising things and the government taking last minute, Seguir leyendo

The rest is silence…

I was literally struck by her short but powerful speech. Let me quote 16-year- old Greta Thunberg’s warning to world leaders (and to all of us), at the UN climate summit: “My message is: we’ll be watching you”. (the audience chuckled and clapped). “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be Seguir leyendo

Basketball life lessons

Although Spain defeated Argentina in the Basketball World Cup, our squad’s performance was absolutely brilliant. There’s so much to learn from these players, their discipline, their commitment, their passion. We should listen to star Luis Scola’s advice and apply it to our everyday life. There’s no magic here, he says.  Simply Seguir leyendo

Starvation

“Chamber of Deputies approves emergency food bill”. Poverty, hunger and malnutrition in Argentina are the blatant proofs of the utter failure of the administrations that have governed our country for decades.  On the one hand, they say that we could feed 400 million people. On the other, the plain truth is Seguir leyendo

He did it again!

“Chile is not Cuba thanks to Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship”, said Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, thus praising Chile’s 1973 military coup d’état.  He never ceases to shock us. Alongside, he attacked  Michelle Bachelet:  «Among the communists during that era was her brigadier father”, he said. Some reminders. The socialist government of Salvador Allende was  overthrown Seguir leyendo
