I wonder if Europe’s negative policies against immigration will change once the 2018 World Football Cup is over. Why, you may ask. Simple: believe it or not, many of the best players of the French, Belgian and English semifinalist teams were born to immigrant parents. Actually, the French team is more “black” than “blue”: it has 12 players of African ancestry. Shouldn’t this serve as an antidote against European xenophobia? Or is this open-mindedness solely restricted to the football/soccer field? Maybe there’s a lesson to be learnt here.
