Last November, when he was still a presidential candidate, Javier Milei went to the Teatro Colón opera house with his girlfriend Fátima Florez to watch a performance of “Madame Butterfly”. Last Tuesday he went with Yuyito Gonzalez to watch “Carmen”. Inevitably, Menem and the frivolous nineties come to mind. We can’t afford “pizza & champagne”, though. “Polenta & mate”, at most. I wonder if President Milei realizes that Argentina is under an appalling recession, getting poorer and poorer, suffering a brutal economic adjustment, while he keeps travelling everywhere, going to the opera with curvy and sexy ladies, feeding gossip shows instead of trying not to disappoint those of us who voted for him. Sigh …
